Accompaniment Circle -- Sri Lanka

July 10, 2025

9:00 a.m. --

10:30 a.m. (US/Canada Central Daylight Time)

Sri Lanka has 40 IP Teams in 3 regions (Kandy district in villages around tea estates, in the Eastern Province and Northern Province). Since the pandemic and the economic crisis that followed, they have focused on building Home Agriculture Projects in villages where there are IP Teams. Today, there are 76 successful home and community farms, which allow most families to produce sufficient food for their families' needs. Some have expanded to growing cash crops, such as flowers and spices to augement the family's income.

In the Accompaniment Circle, you will learn about Sri Lanka's context, and its critical issues such as food insecurity, which, the IP Teams are successfully addressing.  We will learn how to apply Sri Lanka's lessons to our context, consider what resources/expertise we have to offer them, and discuss how we might stand in solidarity with our sisters and brothers of Sri Lanka.

Please click the video and watch a short clip on Sri Lanka's Home Agriculture Projects.
