“Trees that Feed” in Uganda
The IP Teams in Uganda are engaged in a collaboration with Trees that feed Uganda to establish a nursery for bread fruit trees in Buliisa. Breadfruit is a highly nuritious fruit that can be cooked and used as a staple food. A grove a breadfruit tress can become a “Food Forest.” We are looking to establish many such food forests across Africa. Trees that Feed Uganda has a center in Kampala, and our IP Teams in Buliisa have sent two interns, Gilbert Okumu and Munguriek Onon Joshua to Kampala for a three week period to learn about how best to breed these trees in Buliisa. Uganda’s National Coordinator, Oyergiu Joshua says that they are looking establish a nursery which can sustain ten thousand seedlings of trees that feed.
