700 Solar Lamps Distributed to Students in Togo

The IP Teams, as they did one-on-one conversations in their communities, learned that students have difficulty doing their homework because of regular power-cuts in the country. This was affecting their performance in school. The IP Teams were in communication with an Australian foundation that donated 700 solar lamps to be given to students. OMNIA’s National Coordinator in Togo, Newlove Bobson Atiso took these lamps to Northern Togo where the need was first expressed, and in a ceremony that included the mayor of the town and several other dignitaries, they distributed the lamps to students. The lamp called “junior buddy” is left in the sun during the day which charges the battery that can be used in the night for study. In the picture is Newlove handing over a lamp to a student.
